Collection: Personnel carrier (MTW/MTF) - multi-purpose vehicle (MZF)
A crew transport vehicle (MTF), also known as a crew transport vehicle (MTW) outside of the fire brigade, or - in the past - called a crew van, is an emergency vehicle that is used by the fire brigade, THW and various other aid organizations and is named primarily for the transport of groups of people (teams ) serves. Such vehicles are referred to by the police as group vehicles (GruKw).
Personnel carriers are not DIN standardized. However, some federal states (Rhineland-Palatinate and Bavaria as well as Saxony for water rescue) have issued technical instructions under state law for the construction of such vehicles. Furthermore, the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) and the predecessor authorities for civil protection have specified certain personnel carriers in more detail and standardized them using type sheets.
Most personnel carriers are based on conventional pickup trucks, either as minibuses or flatbed trucks. They are almost always equipped with a radio, rotating beacon and a follow-up horn. Further equipment and expansion is carried out in accordance with DIN EN 1846.
In addition to transporting people, the personnel carriers are mainly used as command vehicles (ELW) or multi-purpose vehicles (MZF) with different functions or as towing vehicles for various trailers. Often - in the absence of a legal definition - no significant differences to the MZF can be determined
